The 2° Steering Committee Meeting is held in the premises of the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC).The team of DIEGO project meets the Dean of AQUA farming Centre and the Dean of Languages Centre, who gives them the welcome. In order to have an overview of the activities performed, each partner makes a short presentation about the status of the activities.
The 63% of energy in Argentina is thermal energy, which represents the main energy market. Argentina is changing the internal policies, foreseeing subsidies/incentives for the electrical energy and gas. According to these information, the proposal for the new courses is to put them on solar topic but with different specifications: 1. Solar sources, 2. Solar thermal energy, 3. Photovoltaic, 4. Thermal storage, 5. Solar concentration (CSP), 6. Energy efficiency in buildings. The aim is to combine the country and the university needs.
The second day, the meeting is held in the premises of the Universidad Rafael Landivar de Guatemala (URL). Gonzalo Abal and Alejandro Oliva show the template for the report on the “Local needs”. The template includes a first part relating National Policies and Status of REEE and a second part on local strength and local needs in regards of training resources on REEE.
Daniel Perellò of the Universidad de San Luis introduces the Virtual Area. An official FaceBook page has been created and the link has been shared with the other partners in order to disseminate DIEGO project.
The Work Package WP2 – Task 2.2 aims at delivering n. 6 one-day seminars to the six Latin American universities.
The first two seminars are organized at USAC and URL. Prof Maria Sticchi Damiani (UNIROMA1), Prof Rafael Jimenez Castaneda (UCA) and Dr. Charalambos Anastassiou (UCY) prepared the material and offer lectures on Bologna Process, Quality Assurance and Internationalization of Higher Education.
During the afternoon, the Project Coordinator, Katiuscia Cipri, Rafael Castaneda (UCA) and Pedro Julio meet the USAC’s Rector. Unfortunately, the process for the signature of the Partnership Agreement is requiring a long time due to the internal procedures that foresee the approval of the Council and the previous signature of a Macro Agreement between the two universities involved in the process, UNIROMA1 and USAC.
